The Joining Process

  • How do I join?

    You can either join online now, or join on site.

  • Can I try before I join up?


    If you would like to try the facilities, you can request a free day pass. Please note, day passes are limited to one request per person.

  • Is the website secure?

    Yes, the signup section of the website is secure, and any details entered will be encrypted before being sent to the server. We assure you that your personal and banking details will be kept private.

  • What happens if I have problems while I’m trying to join?

    If you experience problems while trying to join, please fill in the form in the contact us section and we’ll be in touch.

  • I want to be able to access more than one facility, can I do this?

    Yes, with Fitness Flex Multisite membership you can enjoy unlimited access to all of our Fitness Flex venues, excluding Fitness Flex Metrodome and Fitness Flex Mansfield.

  • When I join will I be issued with a Fitness Flex gym membership card?

    Yes, this will be issued to you on your first visit to the club. Your card is unique to yourself and enables you to gain access. Our reception area isn’t always manned so you must bring your card to gain access or you may be refused entry.

  • Will I be shown how to use the equipment?

    Yes, all new members receive an induction to the gym.

  • What if I need help while I’m in the gym?

    Gym staff or personal trainers are on hand to answer any queries and help you with equipment.

  • Do members have to pay for a fitness programme?

    No, a complimentary fitness programme is included as part of the induction process. If you would like your programme to be adjusted at any point during your membership, please ask a member of our staff who will be happy to help!

Equipment & Facilities

  • Do you offer group exercise fitness classes?

    Yes we have a wide range of group exercise classes included in your membership.

  • Do you have free weights and functional training areas?

    Yes, all Fitness Flex venues have a free weights section and some venues have TRX and XCube Functional Training areas. Please view the individual venue pages to find out exactly what is offered at each site.

  • Do you offer swimming?

    Yes some Fitness Flex venues have a swimming pool. Please view the individual venue pages to find out exactly what is offered at each site.

  • Do you have a pool, sauna and steam room?

    All Fitness Flex venues are different, some have a Relaxation Suite, some have swimming pools. Please view the individual venue pages to find out exactly what is offered at each site.

  • Do you have free car parking?

    Yes, Fitness Flex venues have free parking for members. The only exception to this is Fitness Flex Doncaster which has free parking at the following times: Mon-Sat before 8am and after 6pm, and all day Sunday. At all other times there is a small charge for council run parking.

  • Do you offer Personal Training sessions?

    Yes, we have Personal Trainers available at most sites. Please view the individual venue pages to find out exactly what is offered at each site.

Price, Terms & Conditions

  • What is BLC and how do I sign up for a BLC membership?

    The Barnsley Leisure Card (BLC) is a concessionary scheme that allows eligible groups of Barnsley residents to receive discounts on a wide range of sport and leisure activities throughout Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham, Sheffield and the neighbouring Wakefield district. BPL venues offer a wide range of activities to Barnsley Leisure Card holders including discounted Fitness Flex membership.     Failure to provide a valid BLC card will result in your membership reverting to the standard rate per month.

  • I am entitled to a Corporate Rate - Can I join online?

    If you know that your employer is part of the Fitness Flex Corporate Membership Scheme you may be entitled to a corporate membership offer. Currently we do not have corporate memberships available for online joining, however you can join in any Fitness Flex site or submit an enquiry via our corporate membership enquiry form.
  • My Home price is different to other sites - why?

    Our Home membership prices are site specific and are based on a number of factors including the facilities offered. Multisite membership is one price but offers access to all Fitness Flex venues exclusing Fitness Flex Metrodome and Fitness Flex Mansfield, so it may be a better option if you are looking for different facilities and locations.
  • Is there a joining fee?

    Yes, to cover our administration costs there is a standard joining fee of £20 on all adult memberships.

  • I don’t want to commit to 12 months, can I join with no minimum contract?

    Yes, all of our membership options are available without a contract.

  • What do you mean by ‘no contract’?

    Exactly that. You are not contractually tied to us for any specified period of time, you are only obliged to pay for one month’s membership by direct debit and after that you can cancel at your bank without penalty.

  • Do you offer Price for Life?

    Yes, as long as you are a continuous member you will always pay the same monthly price on a contracted membership after any introductory offers.

  • Do you offer reductions for corporate memberships or discount cards such as Passport to Leisure?

    Yes, your employer may be part of our corporate scheme or if you are a business with 10 or more employees who would be interested in membership, we may be able to offer our corporate rates. We offer discounts for Passport to Leisure holders – please mention this at the time you sign up. You will be required to produce a valid Passport to Leisure.

  • Can I delay the start of my membership?

    Unfortunately not. As everyone’s circumstances change we recommend joining our clubs at the time you are ready to start.

  • Can I share or give my membership card to somebody else to use?

    Under no circumstances can you give or share your membership card with anybody else as it is unique to you. To ensure the safety of our valued, paying members, offenders will have their membership cancelled. On entering and exiting, the fitness areas are monitored by CCTV 24/7 to further enhance safety.

  • Can I freeze my membership?

    You can freeze your membership for a limited time only on health grounds, and must produce a medical note.

  • I don’t have a DD account, do you accept cash?

    Yes you can pay up front for a full year with a cash payment.

  • How do I cancel my membership?

    If you have completed your minimum contract you can cancel your membership by giving us 30 days' written notice (counted from the next direct debit date) sent directly to Membership Collections. A request for cancellation sent via our website does not guarantee cancellation. Email to: 

  • If I cancel and then decide a few months later that I would like to rejoin, do I have to pay the joining fee?

    Yes, the joining fee will be required in order to cover the cost of getting a new direct debit set up and your membership active. You are technically a new member to the gym.

  • Can I upgrade my membership?

    Yes, if you are currently a Fitness Flex Home member, you can upgrade to Fitness Flex Multisite or Flexcare+ at any time.

  • How old do I have to be to join the gym?

    If you are aged 16 or over you can join as an adult member, however if you are aged 16-17 you will need a Parent or Guardian to set up a Direct Debit Payment. MAXx membership is available for under 16s.

  • Do I get rewarded for recommending a friend?

    Yes, we operate a referral scheme all year round, but you can also bring a friend or family member to try the facilities free during the last weekend of every month. If they sign up, they pay a half-price joining fee and you will get a month free (at the end of your contract or at the end of a 12 month payment period if you are not in a contract).
